Dear Phoenix Friends,

We’re excited to introduce Phoenix Everflame, a powerful new way to bring AI-driven testing into Rails projects. With this new capability, Phoenix can generate an entire test suite for a Rails application, tracking changes over time. As developers make updates, Phoenix runs the new code against the existing test suite to identify:

✅ Behavioral changes – expected test failures that reflect intentional updates
❌ Regressions – unexpected test failures that signal broken functionality

By making test automation effortless and actionable, we’re pushing toward a future where Rails teams spend less time debugging and more time building.

On the Technical Side

Update:

Building and supporting Phoenix Everflame has pushed us to refine how we analyze test results at scale. We’re using automation and LLM agent tools to generate reports that:
 • Compare code changes across test runs
 • Detect regressions with pinpoint accuracy

This is a huge step toward making AI-powered test automation not just reactive, but predictive, helping Rails teams catch issues before they impact production.

Challenge:
Generating tests is just the first step—understanding test failures is where the real magic happens. We’re fine-tuning our AI workflows to make sure Phoenix provides clear, actionable insights on why a test failed and whether it’s a true regression or an expected change.

How You Can Help:
What’s been the hardest part of maintaining your test suite? Do you struggle more with writing new tests or keeping existing ones relevant? Let us know—your insights will shape how we evolve Phoenix’s test automation capabilities.

On the Business Side

Update:

We recently ran Phoenix Everflame on a large open-source Rails codebase (write to me for details), and within minutes, Phoenix uncovered two previously unknown bugs! This validates our approach—by applying Phoenix to more Rails projects, we can help teams find and fix issues faster than ever before.

The next few weeks will be all about onboarding new customers and getting Phoenix Everflame into as many Rails codebases as possible. If your team wants to see the impact of AI-driven test automation, now’s the time to get started.

Challenge:
Scaling adoption is our top priority. We know that bringing AI into a Rails workflow is a big shift, and we want to make it seamless. How can we make Phoenix’s value even clearer to engineering teams? That’s what we’re focused on as we expand our reach.

How You Can Help:
Do you know a Rails team that could benefit from AI-powered test automation? Send them our way! The more teams we work with, the better we can refine Phoenix into the ultimate Rails testing companion.
