We had a blast at RailsConf! Huge thanks to the Def Method team and everyone who made it an unforgettable week. Joe’s talk on Rails maintainability in the age of AI was packed, and the feedback was phenomenal.
More than anything, RailsConf was energizing. We left Philly feeling fired up about what we’re building, and more connected than ever to the Ruby community that makes it all possible.
We also just dropped a new episode of The Ruby AI Podcast!
🎧 Active Agent with Justin Bowenis live now. Joe and Valentino talk with Justin about building Agentic Systems in Ruby—and what it means for the next era of AI tooling.

On the Technical Side
Update:
We’re exploring a major architectural shift: moving from our current hybrid stack (Python + Ruby) to an open-source Ruby platform for agent orchestration. If successful, this would make Phoenix a 100% Ruby codebase, tightening the loop between AI workflows and Rails development.
Challenge:
Porting orchestration logic from Python to Ruby is no small task. It’s not just a rewrite—it’s a rethinking. We’re balancing elegance and extensibility while ensuring Phoenix’s multi-agent coordination remains rock solid.
How You Can Help:
Are you using Ruby-based agent frameworks? Got thoughts on replacing CrewAI with something homegrown? We’d love to hear what’s worked (or not!) for you.
On the Business Side
Update:
We’re welcoming a new Phoenix customer every week. Momentum is growing, and it’s clear: Rails teams want reactive AI. The ability to plug Phoenix into a legacy app and get full test coverage, bug reporting and fixing, and Def Method-flavored design recommendations is changing the conversation.
Challenge:
With more onboardings, our goal is to make every customer experience just as magical as the last. That means improving automation and finding more ways to showcase Phoenix’s value—fast.
How You Can Help:
Got a Rails app that’s overdue for a little love? Come see what Phoenix can do. Or send a friend to phoenix.love—we’re here to help apps rise from the ashes.
